I started shooting ATA in 1979. I moved into the International sports and made the first World Class Athlete’s Program with the Air Force and I was on the U.S. team for 15 years, during which I medaled in three World Cups. When I retired from the Air Force, I knew I wanted to continue shooting and build a career with shooting. That is when we decided to build Shoot the Moon into the premier shooting vest and shooting accessories company that it is today. I then went on to continue shooting in the ATA and NSCA. I got involved in the ATA and became Colorado Delegate. From there, I became the Southwestern Zone Vice President and eventually became President of the ATA in 2020. It’s been an amazing ride so far and I plan to continue my involvement in the ISSF, ATA, and NSCA.

Shane Herman

I began shooting ATA in 2004. I’ve won several Colorado State and National titles before joining the Army in 2009 to shoot on the Army Marksmanship Unit. With the AMU, I was able to travel to multiple international and national competitions. Since the AMU, I have continued to shoot trap and sporting clays whenever I can. I am proud to be a member of Team Shoot the Moon and even prouder to be a member of Family Shoot the Moon.

Matthew Kutz

Born and raised in Texas, I started competing in shotgun sports at the age of 9 years old through the 4H program. As I grew older, my passion for the game grew as well. During my junior year of high school, I found out about USA Shooting and all the opportunities that were offered. I thought the fact that I could make Team USA and go overseas and represent the U.S. was amazing. In the summer of 2020, I made the decision to start focusing on Olympic Trap. Fast forward two years, lots of ups and downs, I am so proud to be a member of the Men’s National and Junior National Team! I am fortunate enough to be a 2x Junior Olympic Medalist and the current Junior National Champion. I also have been blessed to have gone overseas twice in 2022 and win a Gold Team Medal at the Junior World Cup in Germany, and recently a Bronze Team Medal at the World Championships in Croatia! When not shooting, I am busy getting my Business degree at Schreiner University! It has been an absolute ride so far, and I cannot wait to see where this journey takes me! Go Team USA!

Nick Hughes

I began shooting ATA trap in the spring of 2009, following in the footsteps of my Dad and grandparents. some of my oldest memories of shooting are “running” sheets at the Maryland State Shoot with my Grandfather. At the same time, my Grandmother was the secretary and my Dad was an officer for the Maryland State Sportsmen’s Association (MSSA); this instilled a deep sense of service to the sport in me. As a result, I am an active volunteer at many of the shoots I attend, especially at the MSSA Homegrounds. I am also an an officer within my state association and MSSA’s webmaster. As I developed a love of the trapshooting community, I was rewarded with success. I won the 2022 Maryland Singles title, 2014 Maryland handicap, and four Maryland category titles. Furthermore, I have won numerous category and Open Champion awards in the Eastern Zone, Satellite Grands, and the Grand American. I made the 2023 Junior Gold First Team All-American and the 2022 Junior Gold Second Team. While in college, I competed on the University of Delaware Trap and Skeet Team. From my family’s teaching, I served as the President of the Trap and Skeet Team during my Junior and Senior years. While most of my shooting experience is in trap, I enjoy hunting, fishing, working on our family Christmas tree farm, and shooting skeet and sporting clays recreationally.

I always said I was born at the gun club. It’s not entirely false as I went to a gun club within a week of being born! With a dad like mine, how could I not? I started shooting when I was 11 years old. I have been on the Colorado State team since 2011. I am the only woman to win the top gun award for any league at Pikes Peak Gun Club. I have won several handicap and doubles trophies at the Grand American and recently won the 1,000 target HOA trophy at the 2020 Grand American. Trap and sporting clays are my shotgun loves, but I love going out to shoot pistols, rifles, AR’s, you name it, and I am shooting it! I always tell people that even though I started with rifle and pistol and continue to grow my skill with them, I found my forever gun in a shotgun at age 11 and still can’t get enough of it!

Mr. and Mrs. Pink

Mr. Pink: I shot my first trap shoot at Colorado Clays in 2004 and I’ve been hooked ever since. I made AA27AA in 2008 and AAA27AAA in 2009. I completed my grand slam on September 7, 2008. I’ve been on the Open All-American Team for the past two years. I am proud to represent Team Shoot the Moon as the only Mr. Pink around.

Mrs. Pink: After I met Mr. Pink, I started attending many shoots with him. After meeting so many amazing people and watching Mr. Pink shoot, I picked up a gun and started shooting in 2014. While I still have a lot to learn, I have the best husband and best friends to learn it with and I’m proud to be part of Team Shoot the Moon as the better half of the Pinkz.

Emily Robertson

Howdy! My name is Emily Robertson. I’m 19 years old and I am from Pampa, Texas! I started competitively shooting when I was 9 years old, thanks to Gray County 4H! One interesting fact about me is that my family and I own a ranch where we work cattle and hunt! Currently, I am attending Oklahoma Panhandle State University where I am on the shooting team, cheer squad, a Student Ambassador, and a Resident Assistant, as well as studying to earn my Bachelors of Science for nursing. This past shooting season, I was able to accomplish many goals and meet some amazing people! At the NCSSAA Nationals in Las Vegas, I placed first in Division 4 Women’s Skeet with a 100 straight! I also placed second in Division 4 Women’s Trap with a 99! Shooting has made me the person I am today and I am so grateful for my parents and friends that have pushed me to be the shooter I am! One day, I want to be able to shoot in the Olympics and represent Team USA! I am so thankful and excited to be on Team Shoot the Moon!
